Job Description

Responsible for independently evaluating and managing complex Wholesale Banking loan portfolios within approved lending limits. Works closely with Relationship Managers, Credit Portfolio Managers, and the Credit Portfolio Management Team Leader to deliver effective credit solutions through underwriting, portfolio oversight, deal coordination, and client engagement. The role includes monitoring portfolio performance, ensuring accurate risk ratings, maintaining covenant compliance, identifying emerging risks, and managing remediation actions. Participation in initiatives focused on improving portfolio management efficiency is also expected.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage underwriting for new and existing credit opportunities
  • Assess financial statements, cash flow performance, and industry-related risks to evaluate creditworthiness
  • Review collateral strength, guarantor backing, and overall credit structure
  • Build financial projections using Moody’s or Excel-based tools
  • Recommend appropriate credit structure, exposure limits, and compliance with policies
  • Track portfolio performance, risk ratings, and covenant adherence
  • Identify and mitigate credit risks at an early stage
  • Participate in client discussions and relationship management meetings
  • Support improvements in portfolio management processes
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies, including BSA and AML standards
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Credit Risk, and Treasury teams
  • Mentor and support junior Credit Portfolio Managers

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial and government lending required

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience across C&I, CRE, government, retail, and service sectors
  • Strong expertise in commercial credit analysis and underwriting
  • Advanced financial statement and cash flow analysis skills
  • Understanding of construction lending concepts (if applicable)
  • Proficiency in Moody’s or similar financial systems
  • Strong business judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to structure and negotiate credit arrangements
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong capability to work independently as well as in teams
