Job Description

Title: Video Production Manager, Digital Productions

Reports to: Director, Digital Productions

Job Summary: The Video Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that Heritage is represented by best-in-class video products. This role is both creative and administrative, balancing efficiency and innovation. The Video Production Manager oversees the video process from scripting to final edits, integrates a strong creative vision, understands Heritage’s visual language, and crafts products that move audiences to action. At the same time, this role seeks to maximize the use of Heritage personnel and resources, suggesting technical and administrative upgrades for efficiency, integrating new technologies, and overseeing the work of junior staff, interns, and partners. The Video Production Manager will work with the Director and Assistant Director to improve the overall efficiency and quality of Heritage Studios as a unit.

Job Duties:

  • Works with the Digital Productions team and experts to conceptualize and produce video content that furthers the Heritage brand and moves audiences to action.
  • Oversees Heritage content to include mini-documentaries, social content, event videos, on-location shoots, and podcasts
  • Maintains, organizes, expands, and improves Heritage’s arsenal of cameras, lights, and related production equipment.
  • Tracks ongoing video projects, assigns and advises staff, and prioritizes resources to hit deadlines and key goals.
  • Utilizes, maintains, and improves software and automation processes to ensure efficiency.
  • Advises and directs external groups making use of Heritage Studios.
  • Casts a vision and leads the team in producing best-in-class visuals, from storyboarding to motion graphics.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging trends in technology, software, AI, digital journalism, and digital platforms
  • Assists in Heritage Studios productions of all kinds, including livestreams, panels, podcasts, and other live productions.
  • Provides constructive feedback and creative input to enhance the quality of video and podcast content produced by other members of Heritage team.
  • Creates video and podcast content that engages outside audiences and inspires sharing across social media platforms.
  • Participates actively in the Conservative Creative Network, directs freelancers, and maintains relationships with other conservative filmmakers and creatives.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in film or broadcast production-related major, or significant industry experience

Experience: 3+ years of shooting, editing, and producing videos and podcast productions for broadcast and/or posting online

Communication: Excellent video editing, audio production, and writing skills,

Technology: Adobe Creative Cloud, Da Vinci Resolve, professional field camera and studio systems

  • Understands and supports the Heritage mission and vision for America, and the department’s goals and objectives.
  • Promote policies consistent with Heritage’s priorities; speak with one voice.
  • Ability to work creatively and effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative media environment.
  • Excellent project and asset management skills with concentration on producing quality audio/visual products on deadline.
  • Knowledge of industry trends in video and podcast production, the newsroom, and the workings of the Hill and/or think tanks.
  • In-depth knowledge of professional production processes.
  • Attention to detail, hardworking, resourceful, reliable, creative and organized with the ability to meet tight deadlines and be goal-oriented.
  • Visual sensibility and experience contributing to interactive and multimedia work, with creative concepts and implementation.
  • Excellent grasp of political and policy news and a keen understanding of how they affect individuals.
  • Ability to provide and receive creative direction and feedback.
  • Embrace new digital products and innovative storytelling styles with a vision of future audience trends.
  • Aptitude for thinking big, working wisely and quickly iterating.

The salary range for this role is $68,000 - $82,000 annually. This range is a good-faith estimate, and the final salary offered to a selected candidate depends on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, and other qualifications; internal and external market pay for comparable jobs; and level of hire based on aforementioned qualifications.
