Job Description
Title: Video Fellow, Digital Productions
Reports to: Director, Digital Productions
Job Summary: The Video Fellowship is training program focused on video production for The Heritage Foundation and partner organizations. The Video Fellow will create high-quality video products using Heritage's studios and field camera systems. The Video Fellow will focus on maintaining and optimizing studio systems, providing support for the movement, and producing and editing a broad range of Heritage products, especially podcasts. This position will also manage studio bookings and keep Heritage media hits running smoothly. The ideal candidate will pair a video, broadcast, or journalism background with a strong understanding of and experience in social media. This is a one-year, full-time fellowship.
Job Duties:
- Work with producers and experts to conceptualize and produce new audio/video content, with an emphasis on industry trends and quality control.
- Assist with shooting and editing packages, multi-cam interviews, mini-documentaries and other Heritage videos, incorporating relevant b-roll (videos, graphics, photos) and music, on a tight timeline.
- Serve as a producer for Heritage podcasts, running the full process of weekly content production from planning to editing to posting.
- Maintaining up-to-date data in the Digital Productions Production Hub and recommending updates to that system.
- Provide technical assistance for live-streamed interviews and events.
- Assist in creating video and podcast content that engages outside audiences and inspires sharing across social media platforms.
- Coordinate coverage for studio bookings and remote recordings to ensure that production needs are met efficiently.
- Ensure that talent (both Heritage and external) is comfortable and prepared to give an optimal performance.
- Keep up with current trends in production, to ensure that the Heritage studio maintains best-in-class status; suggest improvements for studio technology and techniques. Ensure studio equipment remains organized and in optimal operating condition.
Qualifications
Education: Progress towards bachelor's degree
Experience: Past journalism or digital internships and/or college news reporting or digital experience preferred
Communication: Strong verbal, editing and writing skills
Technology: Microsoft Suite, Adobe Suite

- Possess excellent organizational, planning, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Hard working, resourceful, and creative with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of AP Style; strong eye for detail and command of spelling and grammar.
Benefits and Salary:
The salary for this role is $55,000 annually. As a temporary position, this role is eligible for some of The Heritage Foundation's benefits package, including "take what you need" PTO and sick leave.
