Project Overview
We are supporting a client project to modernize their Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment by transitioning from a Citrix-based solution to an Azure Local VDI architecture. The project will involve solution design, infrastructure assessment, and implementation of Azure Local infrastructure integrated with Microsoft Azure services.
Key Responsibilities
Design and support deployment of Azure Local / Azure Stack HCI infrastructure
Assist with migration planning from Citrix VDI environment to Azure Local VDI
Evaluate the current infrastructure and identify risks, limitations, and best practices
Configure and support Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) or equivalent VDI solutions
Work with Microsoft-certified Azure Local hardware configurations (HP preferred)
Support integration of on-premise infrastructure with Azure cloud services
Collaborate with stakeholders to define architecture, design documentation, and implementation plans
Assist in validating Microsoft licensing (including E5) for VDI sessions
Provide recommendations on VDI performance, scalability, and security
Support infrastructure deployment, testing, and operational readiness
Required Technical Skills
Strong experience with Azure Local / Azure Stack HCI
Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments
Knowledge of Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops
Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
Solid understanding of Windows Server environments
Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy
Experience with Hyper‑V or virtualization platforms
Knowledge of enterprise networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, VLAN, firewalls)
Experience working with enterprise hardware infrastructure (HP servers preferred)
Understanding of Microsoft 365 / E5 licensing models
Preferred Certifications
Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect (AZ‑305)
Azure Virtual Desktop related certifications
Citrix certifications (nice to have)
Experience Required
5+ years experience in IT Infrastructure or Cloud Engineering
3+ years experience working with Microsoft Azure environments
Experience implementing or supporting VDI solutions
Key Soft Skills
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to assess infrastructure and recommend improvements
Experience working with cross‑functional technical teams
Good communication and documentation skills
Ability to work independently in design and implementation phases
