You will collaborate closely with research and development, operations, and safety departments to translate laboratory discoveries into robust, large-scale production processes. This role requires a strong focus on process safety management (PSM), hazard analysis (HAZOP), and risk assessment. You will be instrumental in identifying and implementing cost-reduction strategies, improving yields, and enhancing product quality. The Principal Chemical Engineer will also contribute to the development of best practices and standards within the organization and stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain a competitive edge. Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and optimization of complex chemical processes and systems. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to chemical engineering teams. Conduct process simulations, modeling, and economic evaluations. Ensure all designs comply with stringent safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Oversee process scale-up from laboratory to pilot plant and full commercial production. Troubleshoot and resolve complex process-related issues in manufacturing plants. Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and conduct HAZOP studies. Collaborate with R&D, operations, and quality assurance teams to achieve project objectives. Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and yield enhancement. Manage engineering projects, including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Stay current with advancements in chemical engineering technology, equipment, and methodologies. Prepare comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and documentation. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and equipment for process improvements. Contribute to the development of engineering standards and best practices. Represent the company in technical discussions with external stakeholders and partners. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in chemical process design, development, and optimization. Proven expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Strong knowledge of reaction engineering, thermodynamics, mass transfer, and fluid dynamics. Demonstrated experience in leading engineering projects and teams. In-depth understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) and HAZOP analysis. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Experience in various chemical industries (e.g., petrochemical, pharmaceutical, specialty chemicals) is advantageous. Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus.
