Role Overview:
As a Commercial / SME Underwriter at Prisha Insurance Brokers Private Limited, you will be responsible for managing underwriting activities across SME and commercial insurance portfolios. Your role will involve evaluating risks, providing pricing support, structuring policies, and collaborating with insurers to ensure optimal coverage solutions while upholding underwriting discipline and profitability. Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and underwrite SME and commercial insurance risks for products such as Fire, Marine, Engineering, Liability, WC, and other general insurance lines.
- Analyze proposal forms, financial statements, risk inspections, and supporting documents to determine risk exposure and coverage requirements.
- Coordinate with insurers for quotations, negotiations, endorsements, and policy issuance.
- Structure coverage, limits, deductibles, and terms based on client needs and insurer underwriting guidelines.
- Ensure accurate documentation, timely policy issuance, and adherence to agreed turnaround times (TATs).
- Provide technical inputs, assist with product positioning, and clarify underwriting queries for the sales and relationship teams.
- Review renewals, loss ratios, and claims history to recommend appropriate terms and pricing adjustments.
- Identify underwriting risks, red flags, and coverage gaps, and propose risk mitigation measures.
- Maintain underwriting Management Information System (MIS), reports, and portfolio performance dashboards.
- Collaborate with claims, operations, and compliance teams to facilitate seamless policy servicing and enhance client satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in commercial / SME underwriting, preferably within an insurance company or insurance brokerage.
- Strong knowledge of Fire, Marine, Engineering, Liability, WC, and other SME insurance products.
- Familiarity with policy wordings, endorsements, exclusions, and underwriting clauses.
- Ability to assess financials, risk exposures, and loss experience for SME clients.
- Proficient in analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
- Competence in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
