About the Role

The largest digital nonprofit Jewish publisher in North America, home to six editorial brands reaching broad audiences, is hiring a Washington Correspondent for its flagship wire service. The reporter covers the intersection of U.S. politics, foreign policy, and Jewish communal life from the nation's capital, producing breaking news, enterprise reporting, and feature stories.

The beat spans political races, Congress, the White House, federal agencies, antisemitism policy, and the U.S.-Israel relationship. The correspondent covers daily news out of Washington, developments on the campaign trail and in local races of interest, and national political dynamics that lend themselves to thematic pieces.

What the Role Covers

• Leading coverage of national elections including presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, and key local races affecting Jewish communities
• Covering daily Washington developments related to Jewish affairs, domestic politics, foreign policy, and civil rights
• Breaking news on Capitol Hill, the administration, Jewish organizations, and advocacy groups
• Developing enterprise and step-back pieces that capture national trends and political dynamics
• Reporting on campaign strategy, political messaging, and policy debates related to antisemitism, religious freedom, Israel, and domestic issues important to Jewish voters
• Attending press briefings, congressional hearings, policy events, and community gatherings
• Traveling to cover campaigns, conventions, battleground states, and major election events
• Cultivating sources across government, politics, diplomacy, and Jewish communal institutions
• Collaborating with editors and reporters across the newsroom on national and international coverage
• Contributing to newsletters, podcasts, live coverage, and multimedia storytelling

Qualifications

• 3 to 5+ years of professional reporting experience, preferably covering politics, Congress, national security, or public policy
• Strong understanding of U.S. politics and the American Jewish landscape
• Demonstrated ability to break news and develop original reporting
• Excellent writing, interviewing, and analytical skills
• Ability to work quickly under deadline pressure while maintaining accuracy
• Experience covering sensitive or polarizing topics with nuance and balance
• Familiarity with Israel and Middle East issues strongly preferred
• Multimedia experience (audio, video, newsletters, social media) preferred
• Hebrew language skills a plus
