About the Role
The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a global network of policy research centers, is hiring a New Media Manager to join its communications team in Washington, DC. This 24-month position focuses on increasing the organization's video-based output on major international affairs topics by connecting policy scholars to creator networks, training scholars in best practices, and directing creative storytelling strategies for social media.
The manager will develop a strategy blueprint for reaching audiences through short-form video that can be shared with similarly positioned organizations navigating the new media landscape. The role reports to the Vice President for Communications and works closely with the Democracy, Conflict, and Governance program and the Sustainability, Climate and Geopolitics program. The position is part of the staff bargaining unit (CEWA/IFPTE Local 70). Hybrid schedule requires in-office work Tuesday through Thursday at the Dupont Circle office.

Qualifications
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in social media strategy, content marketing, digital audience development, or a similar field
- Deep understanding of social video platforms, how to tailor content for each, and how to break through in an AI-transformed information landscape
- Track record of producing compelling content with the ability to set and adjust strategy based on trends
- Strong editorial judgment and news instincts
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations, content creators, journalists, academics, or digital storytellers preferred
- Strong grasp of how to build and engage audiences on fact-based content
- Experience managing a social media budget and training others who are new to social media a plus
- Candidates with experience outside DC and the foreign policy space are welcome to apply
