Job Description

Washington, DC (Hybrid, 3-4 days/week onsite) | Full-Time | $80,000 - $90,000

About the Role

A prominent nonpartisan foreign policy organization is hiring a Video Producer to create visually compelling content that brings foreign policy analysis and ideas to wider audiences. The organization is known for its expert analysis, publications, and convenings on international affairs, and its video team plays a key role in brand storytelling and audience engagement across platforms.

This is a hands-on production role focused on brand marketing videos, event recap and sizzle reels, video explainers, short-form social video, and video podcast recordings. The producer will write, shoot, edit, and direct content, conduct on-camera interviews both in the field and in studio, and use motion graphics and evocative imagery to make complex foreign policy concepts accessible. The position reports to the Director of Video and collaborates with staff writers, editors, policy experts, A/V professionals, and external vendors.

The role is based at the organization's Washington, DC office with a current hybrid schedule of at least three days onsite (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays), moving to four days onsite beginning September 2026.

What the Role Covers

  • Producing, writing, and editing short-form video content, including brand marketing videos, event recaps, sizzle reels, and social media explainers
  • Using storytelling and motion graphics to explain foreign policy concepts to general audiences
  • Researching photo and footage needs and negotiating licensing terms with vendors
  • Writing and editing scripts, interview questions, and substantive outlines

  • Managing production schedules and communicating deliverables to the Director of Video, colleagues, and senior leadership
  • Collaborating with staff writers, editors, policy experts, A/V professionals, and external vendors
  • Producing and directing video podcast recordings
  • Maintaining awareness of video trends, video SEO, social platform developments, and engagement best practices

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience editing and producing video, with a portfolio demonstrating brand marketing and social video work
  • BA in film and TV production, journalism, or a related field
  • Demonstrated passion for using storytelling to make complex topics accessible to general audiences
  • Experience writing and editing scripts for video and conducting on-camera interviews
  • Experience lighting and recording across one, two, and three camera shoots using professional Sony or comparable gear, with a solid understanding of cinematography principles
  • Mastery of Adobe Premiere; After Effects experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Audition, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Strong familiarity with international affairs and foreign policy topics
  • Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment with occasional hours outside standard schedule
  • Ability to travel as needed
