We are excited to announce openings for talented Entry-Level Software Engineers to join our innovative team working on the Command and Control Incident Management Emergency Response Application (C2IMERA) program within the Leidos Defense Sector. You will collaborate with a dynamic team of software developers and engineers to deliver cutting-edge software solutions for the US Air Force. This position promises personal and professional growth in an engaging, inclusive environment that emphasizes customer satisfaction and teamwork.
This position allows for remote work; however, candidates who can occasionally work onsite in Newport News, VA; Lexington, MA; Orlando, FL; Charlottesville, VA; Omaha, NE; or Morgantown, WV are preferred.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug mission-critical software using modern programming languages and tools, with an emphasis on Java.
- Engage in the complete software development lifecycle while operating within well-defined parameters.
- Utilize Agile development tools like Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to effectively manage workflows and collaborate with team members.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of documentation and specifications for design, development, and testing processes.
- Identify challenges and devise strategies to navigate around them.
- Plan, estimate, and improve development tasks and performance metrics.
- Write maintainable code that adheres to specifications.
- Develop automated tests as part of a continuous integration strategy.
- Take ownership of delivering small components of systems or applications.
- Collaborate closely with other engineers to produce optimal designs for new product development.
- Construct software solutions keeping the customer’s needs at the forefront.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 0-2 years of experience or a Master's degree. Relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret clearance or higher, and the ability to maintain clearance during employment.
- Hands-on experience with Java/C++ and object-oriented programming (applicants will undergo testing).
- Proficient in JavaScript and its frameworks, particularly React.
- Understanding of fundamental software development processes.
- A strong desire to learn new programming languages, tools, frameworks, and techniques.
- Ability to independently complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Capability to effectively collaborate within a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, XML, REST, JSON, SOAP, and WSDL.
- Experience with web application technologies like Apache Tomcat and JBoss.
- Knowledge of version control systems (Git, etc.).
- Understanding of Agile Development methodologies.
- Exposure to various operating systems (Mac OSX, Windows, LINUX, etc.).
- Experience with at least one Relational Database Management System (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.).
- Proficiency in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with NoSql databases (MongoDB, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of server-side JavaScript.

Pay Range: Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
