Property Accountant

Key Responsibilities
Property Accounting & Transaction Support
- Maintain accurate financial records for a portfolio of properties
- Process payables, receivables, and day-to-day accounting transactions
- Review and code vendor invoices; monitor payment activity
- Support tenant billing cycles, rent collections, and reconciliation of operating expenses
General Ledger & Financial Accuracy
- Assist with general ledger maintenance and supporting schedules
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Track operating costs and ensure proper expense classifications
- Maintain organized and audit-ready financial documentation
Reporting & Close Process
- Support preparation of monthly financial packages and variance analysis
- Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting activities
- Assist with month-end close procedures across assigned properties
- Monitor budget-to-actual performance and highlight variances
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with property management and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Interface with vendors and internal stakeholders regarding billing and documentation
- Maintain organized lease files and accounting records
Qualifications Required
- 2-3+ years of experience in real estate or construction environments
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with Excel and standard business software tools
- Effective communication skills and ability to work across teams
- Comfortable in a lean, fast-paced setting with evolving priorities
- Experience with property management or accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Familiarity with lease structures and operating expense reconciliations
