ChatGPT Resume Prompt Generator

Pick a category (rewrite bullets, draft summary, identify keywords, ATS-optimize, interview prep, organize skills); get polished prompts grounded in your context, ready to paste into ChatGPT.

ChatGPT is only as good as the prompt you give it. Generic prompts ('improve my resume') get generic output. This generator returns 1-2 polished prompts per category, pre-populated with your role + experience + context, ready to paste into a fresh ChatGPT session. The prompts include explicit anti-fabrication rules so the model doesn't invent skills, employers, or metrics you don't have.

What do you want help with?

Examples

What you'll get

Rewrite weak bullets

Input: Role: Senior PM, 6 yrs; Category: rewrite-bullets; Context: 4 bullets pasted

Output: 2 prompts with the bullets embedded - one focused on action verbs + outcomes, one on tightening to <20 words each.

Interview prep

Input: Role: Backend Engineer, 4 yrs; Category: interview-prep; Context: full resume pasted

Output: 2 prompts: generate STAR stories from your resume, and predict 10 likely interview questions.

What this tool isn't

Honest limitations

  • We don't run the prompt - that's by design. You paste it into ChatGPT (or Claude) and read the output yourself.
  • The prompts are templates, not guarantees. Output quality depends on the model you use and the context you provide.
  • Anti-fabrication rules reduce but don't eliminate hallucinated facts - always read the output critically.

FAQ

Common questions

Why give me a prompt instead of running it?

Running the prompt for you would mean charging you (or showing ads) and locking you into our model choice. Giving you the prompt lets you use whichever AI service you prefer and pay only what you already pay for that service.

Will ChatGPT invent facts about me?

It can. Every prompt we generate includes explicit anti-fabrication rules ('Do NOT invent skills / metrics / employers'), but no rule is bulletproof. Always re-read the output and remove anything you can't defend.

Which model is best for these prompts?

GPT-4 or Claude 3.5 Sonnet. The free tier of ChatGPT works for short tasks but may produce weaker output on the longer prompts.
