Job Description

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Lead Product Developer to drive the creation of cutting-edge skincare formulations. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our beauty and wellness product line, demanding creativity, scientific rigor, and a deep understanding of market trends and consumer needs. You will be responsible for the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptualization and ingredient sourcing to formula testing, stability studies, and regulatory compliance. This includes identifying emerging ingredients and technologies, developing novel product concepts, and scaling up formulations for commercial production. You will work closely with R&D, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure product excellence and timely market entry.

Responsibilities include:

Leading the formulation and development of new skincare products, ensuring efficacy, safety, and stability. Researching and evaluating new ingredients, raw materials, and innovative technologies. Conducting bench-scale formulation, optimization, and pilot batch production. Performing stability testing and developing robust analytical methods. Collaborating with marketing to translate consumer insights and product briefs into viable formulations. Ensuring all product development activities comply with relevant industry regulations and quality standards. Troubleshooting formulation issues and providing technical support throughout the product lifecycle. Managing relationships with external suppliers and contract manufacturers. Staying abreast of the latest scientific advancements and market trends in the beauty and wellness industry. Mentoring and guiding junior formulators and technicians. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or a related field, with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in cosmetic product development. A strong understanding of skincare ingredients, formulation techniques, and regulatory requirements is essential. Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for innovation are crucial. Experience with claims substantiation and consumer testing is a significant advantage. This is a hands-on role requiring laboratory work and a proactive approach. This position is based at our state-of-the-art facility in **Vaughan, Ontario, CA**.
