Job Description

International Payroll Accountant

Base Compensation: Up to $100k+Bonus

Washington, D.C

Key Responsibilities

  • Support payroll operations for domestic and international employee populations.
  • Review payroll data for accuracy and ensure timely processing through internal teams and external payroll providers.
  • Assist with multi-state and international payroll tax compliance, filings, and reporting.
  • Prepare payroll-related journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and account analyses.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, tax issues, and employee payroll inquiries.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Benefits, and Tax teams to support payroll changes and employee compensation programs.
  • Assist with global mobility, travel tax tracking, equity compensation, or other specialized payroll initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee compensation and payroll information.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in payroll, accounting, tax, or a related finance function.
  • Understanding of payroll accounting, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll taxes; international payroll experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with payroll or HRIS systems such as Workday, ADP, UKG, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyze payroll reports and reconcile data.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and coordinate with global teams and external vendors.
