About the Role
The company is hiring a remote, full-time Pharmacy Support Specialist who can act as a key point of contact between physician offices, patients, and pharmacy teams. The role centers on handling incoming and outgoing communication, recording prescription and referral details correctly, and supporting daily pharmacy workflows through the processing of patient data and incoming documents. Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare, computer science, or a similar discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience
- At least 3 years of experience in a healthcare call center, pharmacy office, or social services setting
- Active pharmacy technician registration with the State Board of Pharmacy
- Working knowledge of MS Office tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access
- Strong spoken and written communication abilities
- Well-developed organization and time-management skills
- Careful attention to detail and a proactive approach to solving problems
- Ability to work with little supervision
- Prior exposure to pharmacy operations, drug therapy, and healthcare regulations is an advantage
Responsibilities
- Maintain professional communication with physician offices in both verbal and written formats
- Review inbound image-based documents and ensure they are organized and attached correctly in pharmacy systems
- Carry out the appropriate steps for each document type and program requirement to create patient profiles and referrals
- Monitor the main pharmacy phone line, answer calls quickly, and route callers to the correct extension based on the medication or program concern
- Record clarification requests and follow-up actions accurately in Pathpoint Rx/ScriptMed so progress remains traceable
- Handle internal questions within the required turnaround time
- Place outbound calls to physician offices to request prescription refills and check on unresolved clarification items
- Receive written refill or clarification requests and confirm they are complete and accurate
- Follow all applicable policies, procedures, safety requirements, and regulations
- Support patients and Pharmacy Care Coordinators with drug therapy and pharmacy care concerns, including the physical, psychological, and social impact of relevant disease states
- Take on other pharmacy support tasks as needed to help operations and patient care run smoothly
