Reports to: Accessioning Supervisor

Note: This is an on-site position; working Tuesday through Saturday.

No remote work is available.

Mira Genetix is seeking a Medical Lab Accessioner to join our rapidly growing team. There is a full-time position available. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, computer proficiency and able to work well with a team.

Position Summary:

As a Medical Lab Accessioner, you are the critical first link in the diagnostic chain. You will be responsible for receiving, identifying, and preparing medical specimens (such as blood, tissue, or fluids) for laboratory testing. Your primary goal is to ensure that every sample is handled with 100% accuracy, maintaining the integrity of the specimen and the patient data associated with it.

Key Job Responsibilities:

· Specimen Intake: Receive and sort incoming medical samples from various couriers and clinical sites.

· Data Entry: Accurately input patient demographics, insurance information, and test orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

· Quality Control: Verify that the information on the specimen container matches the requisition form. Identify and flag any discrepancies or “unfit” samples (e.g. leaked containers, improper labeling).

· Processing: Label specimens with unique tracking barcodes and prepare them for specific laboratory departments (Molecular, Chemistry, etc.).

· Compliance:Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and follow OSHA safety protocols for handling biohazardous materials.

· Troubleshooting: Contact clinics or physician offices to resolve missing information or clarify ambiguous tests orders.

· Answer incoming calls: Answer incoming calls and assist the caller with their question.

· Support Sales representatives: Assist sales representatives in setting up new clients and ordering supplies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Detail-Oriented: A "measure twice, cut once" mindset. In this role, a small data entry error can have significant clinical consequences.
• Technical Literacy: Ability to comfortably navigate database software.
• Medical Terminology: Basic familiarity with medical coding or lab tests is a major plus.
• Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. (Associate degree in a science-related field is preferred).

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
