Job Description: Executive – General Insurance Claims (Project / CAT Claims)

Role Overview

The Executive – Claims will be responsible for managing and processing general insurance claims related to project risks, including flood, fire, and rain damage incidents. The role requires strong expertise in claims handling, coordination with surveyors, and ensuring timely settlement in line with policy terms.

Key Responsibilities

• Claims Handling
• Manage end-to-end processing of insurance claims (FNOL to settlement).
• Handle claims related to project risks (construction-based losses, property damage, CAT events).
• Review policy coverage, exclusions, and claim admissibility.
• Incident Assessment
• Analyze claims arising from flood, fire, heavy rainfall, and natural catastrophes.
• Coordinate with loss assessors, surveyors, and investigators.
• Verify cause of loss and extent of damage.
• Documentation & Reporting
• Ensure collection and validation of required documents (claim forms, invoices, site reports, etc.).
• Maintain proper claim records and MIS reports.
• Prepare claim summaries and technical notes.
• Stakeholder Coordination
• Liaise with insurers, reinsurers, brokers, clients, and internal teams.
• Act as a point of contact for claim status updates.
• Settlement & Negotiation
• Assist in claim evaluation and settlement discussions.
• Track outstanding claims and ensure timely closure.
• Support negotiation for fair claim settlements.
• Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Identify potential fraud or discrepancies.
• Highlight risk trends and loss patterns.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of general insurance products (property, engineering, project insurance)
• Experience in CAT claims handling (Flood, Fire, Rain damage)
• Understanding of policy wording, coverage, and exclusions
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and stakeholder management
• Ability to handle multiple claims under tight timelines

Qualifications & Experience

• Education:
• Bachelor’s degree (Engineering / Commerce / Insurance / Risk Management preferred)
• Experience:
• 2–5 years in general insurance claims
• Experience in project or catastrophe claims is mandatory

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to construction project claims (CAR/EAR policies)
• Experience working with surveyors and loss adjusters
• Knowledge of IRDAI regulations (India context)
