Job Description
- On-site position in New York City, NY
- $120,000 annual salary paid weekly. Full health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one.
- Relocation assistance available if you're planning to move.
Do you believe authentic learning begins with joy, movement, and trust?
Alpha School is reimagining education—where children achieve academic mastery quickly and invest more time developing essential life skills. In Pre-K, this begins with something even more foundational: emotional security, curiosity, and the resilience to keep trying.
Your role: guide an on-site NYC Pre-K group that genuinely loves coming to school while demonstrating accelerated early-learning outcomes—approximately 2x the gains seen in traditional preschool settings. You'll craft purposeful, sensory-enriched play sessions that integrate developmental objectives, document progress each week, and adapt quickly to meet each child's needs.
NYC offers: parks for outdoor exploration, vibrant neighborhoods with engaged family communities, exceptional public transportation, and connection to leading-edge early childhood networks.
Create joy. Accelerate growth. Apply today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Plan and lead 30–60 minute play-based learning sessions that cultivate joy, emotional security, and quantifiable developmental progress
- Build a movement- and sensory-responsive classroom environment that sustains high engagement and supports four-year-olds learning through varied modalities
- Observe and record in the moment: Collect same-day, objective observations linked to developmental domains, then refresh each child's milestone tracking weekly
- Let data shape your teaching: Review weekly records to pinpoint each child's next developmental threshold and design responsive instructional strategies
- Create personalized, interest-driven activity modifications based on what motivates each child, embed a single focused developmental target, and assess results within two weeks
- Support children through frustration moments using steady co-regulation and emotional coaching instead of reactive behavior management
- Share student progress, daily routines, and developing concerns transparently and promptly with families
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Approach Pre-K as custodial care instead of purposeful early education
- Default to scripted worksheets or compliance-focused instruction methods
- Spend most of your time supervising academic apps rather than facilitating live, experiential learning
- Apply reactive behavior management instead of calm co-regulation and emotional coaching
Senior Early Childhood Educator Key Responsibilities
Ensure NYC Pre-K children develop a love of school while showing accelerated early-learning advancement through purposeful play.
Basic Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, OR CDA/Montessori/Reggio credential
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with 3–5-year-olds in a structured group setting (classroom environment, not exclusively one-on-one care)
- Documented success leading play-based learning that produces visible developmental gains
- Confirmed ability to record developmental milestones objectively and reliably on a weekly schedule using a structured framework or rubric
- Strong rapport-building and emotional sensitivity: Capacity to establish trust rapidly, interpret emotional signals precisely, and apply personalized motivators to foster engagement
- Co-regulation and frustration support: Assist children through emotional escalations using calm demonstration and systematic emotional coaching
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Available to work full-time on-site in New York City, NY
