Job Description

The Quality Inspector - Aft plays a key role in ensuring that all incoming, in-process, and finished electrical and mechanical products meet established quality standards and customer requirements. This role performs inspections, supports internal audits, participates in problem-solving and corrective actions, and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to maintain product integrity and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

• Perform receiving inspections on incoming components and materials as required.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections on all switches and part orders prior to shipment.
• Perform internal process and quality system audits as required and accurately report all findings.
• Apply sound judgment in making quality-related decisions and resolving product or process issues.
• Exercise the authority to shut down non-conforming processes after appropriate notification to leadership.
• Communicate drawing and specification discrepancies to Engineering for clarification and resolution.
• Participate in customer inspections and reviews as needed.
• Create non-conformance reports (NCRs) and assist team members in writing and entering NCRs into the system.
• Assist in evaluating non-conforming components, including conducting dimensional analysis to identify potential issues.
• Support material sorting, quarantining, and dispositioning activities for non-conforming materials.
• Write corrective action reports (CAR/CIIs) for audit findings and support employees who report problems requiring corrective action.
• Report violations of ISO standards to the Quality Manager in a timely manner.
• Participate in prototype review processes for newly developed products as needed.
• Review supplier documentation, including dimensional analyses, certifications, and statistical process control (SPC) data.
• Develop and maintain required quality documentation and assist in document control activities.
• Regularly communicate and cooperate with cross-functional teams to meet quality standards and shipment deadlines.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support quality and production objectives.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a quality control or quality assurance role within a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical products, including familiarity with electrical switches.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control practices.
• Ability to interpret and work from blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Computer literacy with the ability to use quality and inventory control systems.
• Experience with inventory control processes and documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgment in quality-related decision-making.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inspections, measurements, and documentation.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams.
• Ability to identify non-conformances and support corrective and preventive actions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Formal schooling or training related to quality, manufacturing, mechanical, or electrical disciplines.
• Quality certifications such as ASQ or similar credentials are an asset.
• Experience working with ISO-based quality management systems.
• Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and related quality tools.
• Experience performing dimensional analysis using appropriate measuring tools.
• Familiarity with documentation control and audit processes.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.

Work Environment

This is an onsite role in a manufacturing environment working primarily with electrical and mechanical products, including electrical switches. The standard shift for this position is the afternoon shift from 3:15 PM to 11:45 PM, with an initial period on a 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM schedule until the afternoon shift begins. The facility is busy and production-focused, requiring close collaboration with production, engineering, and quality teams. You will work with inspection tools, measurement equipment, computers, and inventory control systems, and operate within an ISO-driven quality management framework. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brampton, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
