The Marketing and Communications team provides full-service marketing support to the Division. Our work is anchored by four core areas of focus: brand building, student engagement, revenue growth, and PR & internal communications. We develop and execute integrated marketing strategies that reach students, families, staff, faculty, alumni and other key stakeholders — informing, persuading, and engaging them at every stage of their relationship with the Division. Our work spans the full marketing mix, including digital and print advertising, social media, content production, event marketing, media relations, store fronts and signage, direct marketing, and promotional campaigns.
Responsibilities
The Marketing & Communications Support role contributes hands-on execution support across HAS portfolio, with a focus on photography, videography, and visual content production.
This role works under the supervision of the Digital Content Coordinator, who will assign tasks, review deliverables, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback. The Director, Marketing & Communications provides overarching direction and formal performance support. The Support role will collaborate regularly with team members across the Marketing & Communications department and with internal stakeholder.
Photography & Videography Production
- Assist in planning and coordinating photo and video shoots for the assigned portfolio — including developing storyboard, scheduling, location scouting, prop sourcing, and logistics
- Operate cameras and related equipment (DSLR, mirrorless, or equivalent) to capture photo and video content for promotional campaigns, events, and social media, as required
- Support on-site during shoots: set up lighting, manage equipment, direct subjects, and assist with styling and framing as instructed
- Assist with basic photo and video editing using Adobe Suite (Lightroom, Premiere, etc.) to produce ready-to-use assets
- Maintain and organize the team's photo and video library, ensuring assets are properly catalogued and easily accessible
- Research visual trends and bring forward ideas to keep content fresh and on-brand
Marketing Collaterals & Branding
- Support the production of marketing materials (digital and print) such as posters, digital screens, event signage, and promotional assets, following established brand guidelines
- Coordinate with vendors to obtain quotes and ensure timely delivery of materials
- Assist in the inventory and distribution of promotional items and printed materials
Content & Social Media Support
- Assist the Digital Content Coordinator in creating and scheduling social media content for the assigned portfolio across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
- Draft captions, short-form copy, and content briefs for review and approval by the Digital Content Coordinator
- Monitor social media channels and flag relevant engagement opportunities or issues
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, photography, film/video production, visual arts, or a related field or equivalent practical experience is required
Experience
- 1-3 years of related experience in marketing, communications, and content creation
- Hands-on experience with photo and/or video production
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Advanced skills in operating DSLR/mirrorless cameras, demonstrating mastery in adjusting settings such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO to achieve optimal image quality and desired visual effects
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Premiere)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write in both marketing and journalistic style
- Reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work assigned schedule
- Ability to follow processes and practices with high attention to detail
- Demonstrates integrity and works in accordance with Western's policies and procedures
- Ability to multi-task, to prioritize and maintain an organized work environment,
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements as applicable
