Responsibilities The Web Developer is responsible for migrating the Faculty of Education’s existing Cascade CMS site into new Cascade templates by rebuilding pages using the provided template components. This work requires ensuring that accessibility, usability, navigation, and overall user experience standards are met across all pages. The role includes adhering to Western’s branding guidelines, testing all content and functionality prior to publishing, and maintaining consistency and accuracy throughout the site. The developer will also review changes made to the current site during the transition period and replicate those updates in the new templates. Qualifications Education: Diploma or Degree in information technology, computer science, web development or a related field Experience: Proven experience developing and maintaining websites in Cascade CMS required Skills, Abilities & Expertise: Familiarity with web technologies and tools including content management systems, and learning management systemsFamiliarity of industry standards and best practices of website programming techniquesWorking knowledge of current Internet technologies, including HTML and CSS including responsive webIn-depth knowledge of programming languages, coding methods and best practicesFamiliarity of e-communication tools including website and graphic design principlesAbility and willingness to stay abreast of technological developmentsComputer skills with the ability to creatively use and integrate technology to improve quality and productivityAbility to effectively communicate (orally and in writing) and participate in business discussionsAbility to write clear, concise and accurate procedural documentationAbility to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are requiredAbility to follow formal business practices with high attention to detailDemonstrated ability to take initiative, to work independently and follow through on work assignmentsAbility to understand customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service to directly and indirectly satisfy expectationsProblem solving skills with a sense of urgency in resolving issues and getting tasks completedProven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic mannerAbility to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goalsAbility to investigate and research issues and resolve problemsFamiliarity with project management tools and resources Why Western?
