Job Description
We are a home goods retailer seeking an experienced ecommerce conversion specialist to audit our Shopify store, performing a technical and UX-focused CRO audit to uncover ways to boost our conversion rates and average order value (AOV). We get quality traffic but we suspect conversion performance and checkout funnel optimisation are below potential.
Scope of Work:
Full site walkthrough and customer journey mapping (conversion funnel analysis, cart funnel, checkout flow)
Pinpoint critical leak points where conversions are dropping (product page drop-offs, cart abandonment, payment friction)
Audit product pages, site navigation, search and category UX, mobile optimisation and responsive design
Review checkout flow, payment UX, shipping/returns messaging and checkout abandon triggers
Technical audit for Shopify Development / theme (Liquid theme code review), page speed, web performance and front-end issues impacting conversions
Analytics & tracking audit — Google Analytics (GA4/Universal), Google Tag Manager setup, event tracking, goal/funnel configuration and ecommerce tracking
Identify trust gaps, UX friction points, accessibility issues, CRO opportunities including product page optimisation, upsell/cross-sell, personalization and dynamic recommendations
Provide prioritized, practical implementation plan: low/medium/high impact vs effort roadmap, recommended A/B and multivariate test ideas, and measurement plan
Deliverables: concise CRO audit report, technical tag plan (GTM), prioritized backlog for Shopify Development, A/B test roadmap, and implementation support or handoff to web development/design resources
We don’t want vague, one-size-fits-all tips — we need specific, actionable recommendations tailored to our business, with technical details for our team to execute.
Ideal Candidate:
Proven track record of lifting ecommerce conversion rates with measurable results (conversion uplift, increased AOV, revenue growth)
Deep understanding of user behaviour, buying psychology, UX & UI design, and ecommerce best practices
Hands-on Shopify experience — theme customisation, Liquid, app integrations, Shopify Plus familiarity a plus
Strong analytics and measurement skills — Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, ecommerce tracking, attribution and reporting
Practical experience with A/B testing platforms (Optimizely, VWO, Google Optimize alternatives), session replay and heatmap tools
Background in web development / front-end optimisation, page speed optimisation, mobile-first design, SEO fundamentals and accessibility
Able to explain recommendations clearly to product, design and development teams and provide implementation-ready guidance
This engagement will begin as a one-off CRO audit, and has potential for ongoing conversion rate optimization and A/B testing support.
