Job Title: Manager / Senior Manager – Talent Development & Succession Planning
Department: Human Resources
Location: Mumbai
Reporting To: Head – HR
Job Purpose:
To design, implement, and manage talent development frameworks and succession planning strategies to ensure leadership continuity and build a strong internal talent pipeline aligned with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Succession Planning
- Develop and implement a structured succession planning framework across key roles
- Identify critical positions and high-potential (HiPo) employees
- Create succession pipelines and readiness plans
- Conduct talent review discussions with business leaders
2. Talent Identification & Development
- Drive talent assessment processes ( competency mapping, etc.)
- Design Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for identified talent
- Create customized development interventions
- Monitor progress of HiPo employees and leadership pipeline
3. Performance Management Integration
- Align succession planning with performance management systems
- Ensure objective evaluation of employee potential and performance
5. Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with business leaders and functional heads
- Provide insights on talent risks and bench strength
- Influence leadership on talent decisions
6. Data & Analytics
- Track and report key talent metrics (bench strength, readiness levels, attrition of HiPos, etc.)
- Use HR analytics to drive decision-making
7. Policy & Process Development
- Develop policies, frameworks, and SOPs related to talent development and succession
- Ensure best practices and continuous improvement
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of succession planning frameworks
- Talent assessment tools (9-box, psychometrics, competency mapping)
- Leadership development and coaching
- Strategic thinking and business acumen
- Stakeholder management and influencing skills
Qualifications
- MBA / PGDM in HR or equivalent
- Certifications in Talent Management / OD (preferred)
Experience
- 8–10 years in HR, with at least 4–6 years in Talent Management / OD
- Experience in large or multi-location organizations preferred

- Succession coverage for critical roles (%)
- Readiness of successors (ready now / ready later)
- HiPo retention rate
- Leadership pipeline strength
- Effectiveness of development programs
