Job Description
Talascend is currently seeking a Multimedia and Graphic Design Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Washington, District Of Columbia.
Overview
This role involves supporting strategic communications and public affairs initiatives by creating compelling multimedia and visual products tailored for federal agency communications, including photography, videos, graphics, and social media content. The position requires a creative visual storyteller capable of translating sensitive topics into engaging visual materials for broad public audiences.
Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end photography, multimedia video production, and graphic design for various internal and external communication materials.
- Develop visually compelling assets such as photojournalistic content, videos, infographics, and static and motion graphics aligned with mission messages.
- Capture and produce broadcast-quality photography and video during official events, interviews, and on-location shoots using professional equipment.
- Research, plan, storyboard, script, and produce multimedia videos that effectively communicate key messages to diverse audiences.
- Create social media content optimized for platforms like X, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, including influencer-style videos and reels.
- Support all video production aspects, from conceptualization to filming, editing, and delivering final products.
- Apply creative storytelling techniques and production values appropriate to the medium, audience, and budget.
- Produce multimedia content with animated elements, podcasts, or audio products as needed.
- Ensure all multimedia products meet accessibility standards, including captioning and audio description.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain proper documentation for assets and licensing.
- Assist with livestreaming of press events and organize multimedia assets for future use.
- Collaborate with content strategists, stakeholders, and team members to support integrated communication campaigns.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Design, Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Journalism, or a related field.
- MUST have an active Public Trust.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in photography, multimedia production, video, or visual communications support, or graphic design.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, and Media Encoder.
- Experience capturing and producing high-quality photography, video, and audio content for digital and social media platforms.
- Strong visual storytelling, composition, and design skills with attention to detail and brand consistency.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Willingness and ability to travel on short notice, including occasional overnight trips for on-site events and productions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508) as applied to digital and multimedia content.
- Experience managing digital asset libraries and content cataloging systems.
- Experience with livestreaming platforms, podcast production, or advanced motion graphics.
- Current or prior experience in photojournalism, news outlets, or military communications.
