Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Contract position based in Riverdale, Maryland. This role focuses on general ledger activity, accurate financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting support in a structured environment. Candidates with experience in government fund accounting, particularly within state or local government settings, will be well suited for this opportunity.Responsibilities:

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and current.
• Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation for routine and month-end accounting activity.
• Assist with the preparation and review of financial reports in alignment with established accounting standards and internal policies.
• Support tax-related accounting tasks, including corporate tax and sales tax recordkeeping and reporting activities.
• Contribute to the preparation of corporate tax return documentation by organizing financial data and validating account balances.
• Review transactions for proper classification and resolve discrepancies through research and account analysis.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather accounting information and support audits, compliance reviews, and reporting deadlines.
• Apply government fund accounting practices when working with public sector financial records, budgets, or restricted funds as needed.
