Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Specialist/Analyst to join our clients dynamic finance team in a public sector industry. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced data analysis, visualization, and reporting skills to support strategic decision-making across various financial functions. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with cutting-edge business intelligence tools and ERP systems within a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and innovation. This position’s responsibilities will include analysis and reconciliation of accounts (banking, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, HST, etc.): assisting with preparing financial statements, maintaining financial records in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards and providing financial analyses and accruals for monthly, quarterly and year end financial reporting. This role also includes responsibilities for Contracts Management workflows, municipal billings, and other operational accounting functions.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established company in Cobourg. This is a 6 month contract position with the potential to be hired on.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly financial statements
- Reconciliation of designated accounts to ensure consistency and accuracy and following recognized accounting standards
- Financial information analysis and accruals to support financial reporting
- Bank & Cash reconciliation
- Customer invoicing & accounts receivable
- Capital accounting
- Reconcile WIP reports
Processes:
- Balance Sheet and expense account reconciliations
- Intercompany processing and reconciliations
- Burden expense accounts true-up and reconciliation
- Setting up capital assets, preparation of depreciation entry and reconciliation of continuity schedule
Inventory:
- Assist with the annual and physical inventory count and assist with the reconciliation of the general ledger, perpetual and physical inventory
Audits
- Participate in any requirement's for annual audit
- Preparing reports and documentation for external auditors
- Assis with government audits
Requirements
- CPA Candidate currently working towards designation
- Post -secondary degree in Accounting, Business, Commerce or Finance
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting
- Excellent ability to work in a fully computerized environment
- Advanced Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience with Microsoft Great Plains considered an asset
- Comfortable in a fast paced environment with the ability to work under tight deadlines
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Outstanding interpersonal, analytical and communication skills.
