Cost Accountant

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant with a background in general ledger accounting and cost reporting to support our finance operations. This role plays a key part in managing financial data tied to the import and export of medical components and devices. Based in Glen Cove, you will focus on maintaining accurate records, preparing complex cost analyses, and working with databases to support internal reporting and financial decision-making.

salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per year

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance cost accounting and reporting systems, ensuring high levels of data validation and integrity.
• Prepare landed cost analyses, accurately allocating freight and tariffs to ensure proper inventory valuation.
• Develop and maintain product cost tracking and margin analysis to support strategic financial decisions.
• Track tooling purchases and inventory provided to contract manufacturers, maintaining detailed cost and ownership records.
• Partner cross-functionally with purchasing, logistics, and inventory teams to ensure accurate reporting and operational alignment.

General Ledger & Financial Operations

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger maintenance in compliance with GAAP.
• Perform bank reconciliations and prepare journal entries to support accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
• Oversee customer invoicing, vendor billing, and payment processing to ensure recording accuracy.
• Manage customer and vendor credit applications and address related financial inquiries.
