Subject Matter Expert (Hydroponics & Controlled Environment Agriculture)

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and hands-on Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Hydroponics and Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) to join our curriculum and innovation team.

The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of hydroponic systems, urban farming, and sustainable agriculture, along with experience in teaching, curriculum development, makerspace education, and laboratory setup.

This role will be instrumental in designing engaging learning experiences for school students while supporting the development of future-ready agricultural and sustainability programs.

Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum & Content Development

• Design and develop age-appropriate hydroponics and urban farming curriculum for K–12 learners.
• Create lesson plans, project guides, teacher manuals, assessments, and student resources.
• Develop hands-on learning experiences aligned with STEM, sustainability, and maker education principles.
• Ensure curriculum progression across grade levels and learning pathways.

Makerspace & Program Development

• Design practical projects involving hydroponics, vertical farming, smart agriculture, IoT-enabled farming, and sustainability.
• Integrate hydroponics with STEM, Design Thinking, AI, Robotics, and environmental education.
• Support the development of experiential and project-based learning programs.

Procurement & Lab Setup

• Recommend equipment, tools, consumables, and infrastructure required for hydroponics labs and school makerspaces.
• Support vendor identification, technical evaluation, and procurement planning.
• Develop equipment lists, setup guidelines, safety protocols, and maintenance procedures.

Training & Implementation

• Conduct teacher training workshops and capacity-building programs.
• Support schools in implementing hydroponics and sustainability projects.
• Provide technical guidance during pilot programs and curriculum rollouts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Biotechnology, or related fields.
• 3–8 years of relevant experience in hydroponics, urban farming, greenhouse farming, or controlled environment agriculture.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in hydroponic system design and operation.
• Exposure to school education, STEM education, or makerspace environments.
• Experience in curriculum development or instructional content creation.
• Understanding of sustainable agriculture and climate-smart farming practices.
• Experience in training educators or students.
