Senior Manager Supply Chain ( Mining Co.)

CLIENT: South Africa based global mining organization looking for Supply Chain Manager to relocate to Johanesburg, South Africa in 3 months.

Rich exposure in Mining equipment purchase , spares and consumables for multiple mining sites .

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Buyer with a strong engineering background and proven experience in the mining industry to manage procurement of Bulk Material Handling Division (Mining Equipment's, Conveyor Systems) and heavy equipment, materials, spares, and services essential for mining operations. The role requires close collaboration with engineering and technical teams, deep market awareness, robust supplier management, and strong negotiation capabilities to ensure cost-effective, timely, and quality procurement.

• Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end supply chain for Mining Division across procurement, logistics, vendor management and demand planning.
• Develop sourcing strategies for equipment, wear parts, components and rebuilds to balance cost, reliability and lead time.
• Manage supplier performance through scorecards, audits and corrective action plans; drive localization where feasible.Oversee import logistics, customs compliance and international freight for critical components and assemblies.
• Head procurement for underground mining equipment and spares; manage end-to-end import logistics and letters of credit.
• Finalize contracts for imported UG machines (Continuous Miners, Shuttle Cars, Roof Bolters) and associated spares.Procure heavy mining equipment- Hydraulic excavators,Crushers, feeders, vibrating screens, -Reclaimer, components, consumables, and critical spares.
• Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to understand technical requirements.

Lead commercial negotiations for pricing, payment terms, warranties, and delivery

schedules.

Incumbent profile:

• Result-oriented supply chain leader with 16+ years in mining OEMs and projects, covering end-to-end procurement, international logistics, SAP-enabled execution, inventory optimization and contract management across surface and underground operations. Proven track record as SAP Core Team (MM/SD), Six Sigma Black Belt, and efficiency driver for high-availability mining fleets and spares.

Strong understanding of mining equipment (e.g., excavators, dumpers, conveyors, crushers, drilling equipment).
