Special Education Teacher - Primary

Our client is seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to join their dedicated team in **Nagpur, Maharashtra, IN**. This vital role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to primary school students with diverse learning needs, including developmental disabilities, learning impairments, and behavioral challenges. Responsibilities: Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student. Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, life skills, and social-emotional learning using evidence-based practices. Collaborate closely with general education teachers, parents, school psychologists, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive educational approach. Create and adapt learning materials and instructional strategies to accommodate various learning styles and abilities. Assess student progress regularly through a variety of methods, including formal and informal assessments, and maintain accurate records. Manage classroom behavior effectively, employing positive reinforcement techniques and appropriate interventions. Facilitate student participation in mainstream classroom activities and school events whenever appropriate. Provide guidance and support to paraprofessionals and teaching assistants working in the special education program. Stay current with best practices, research, and legal requirements in special education. Communicate openly and regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, IEP goals, and strategies for home support. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a closely related field. Valid teaching certification or license in Special Education for the relevant age group. Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching students with special needs. Demonstrated knowledge of various disabilities (e.g., ASD, ADHD, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities) and effective intervention strategies. Experience in developing and implementing IEPs. Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and positive discipline. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to student success. Familiarity with assistive technology and educational software is a plus.
