Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join their prestigious R&D and manufacturing team. This is an on-site position, based at our state-of-the-art facility in **Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, CA**. You will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and scaling up chemical processes for innovative product lines.
Responsibilities: Design and develop new chemical processes, from laboratory scale to pilot plant and full-scale production. Optimize existing chemical processes to improve yield, efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct process simulations and modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues in manufacturing. Oversee pilot plant trials and support scale-up activities. Ensure all processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and operations teams to implement process improvements. Manage projects related to process development and implementation, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion. Stay current with advancements in chemical engineering and process technology. Train and mentor junior engineers.
Qualifications: Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum of 7 years of experience in chemical process design, development, and optimization within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry. Proven experience with process simulation and modeling software. Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and separation processes. Experience with process safety management (PSM) principles and hazard analysis (HAZOP). Proficiency in P&ID and PFD development. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong project management and communication skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Knowledge of GMP guidelines is an asset. This role requires full-time presence at our facility in **Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, CA**.
