Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Agronomist with a strong focus on sustainable farming practices to join their team in Kochi, Kerala, IN . This position is critical to developing and implementing innovative agricultural strategies that enhance crop yield, improve soil health, and promote environmental stewardship. The Senior Agronomist will work directly with farm operations, research teams, and stakeholders to ensure the adoption of best practices in crop management, pest control, and resource optimization. This role demands a deep understanding of plant science, soil science, and agricultural economics.

Key responsibilities include conducting field trials to evaluate new crop varieties, fertilizers, and farming techniques. You will analyze soil and crop samples, interpret data, and provide actionable recommendations to farmers and farm managers. Developing and implementing integrated pest management (IPM) programs and sustainable nutrient management plans will be a core focus. The Senior Agronomist will also be involved in advising on water management, irrigation techniques, and conservation practices. You will play a key role in educating farm personnel and stakeholders on the benefits and implementation of sustainable agriculture. Researching and staying current with advancements in agricultural technology, sustainable practices, and relevant government policies is essential. This role also involves collaborating with research institutions and industry partners to foster innovation and knowledge sharing. Preparing detailed reports on crop performance, environmental impact, and economic feasibility of various agricultural interventions will be required.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a closely related agricultural field. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in agronomy, with a significant emphasis on sustainable or organic farming systems, is required. Proven experience in conducting field research, data analysis, and providing technical advice in an agricultural setting is essential. Strong knowledge of tropical agriculture, specific to the Kerala region, is highly desirable. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are paramount.
