Senior Beauty Product Development Scientist

Our client, a renowned leader in the beauty and wellness industry, is seeking an innovative and experienced Senior Beauty Product Development Scientist to join their dynamic R&D team in Indianapolis, Indiana, US . This role is critical in driving the creation of novel cosmetic and skincare formulations, from concept to commercialization. You will leverage your expertise in cosmetic chemistry, formulation science, and raw materials to develop high-performance, safe, and effective products that meet market demands and consumer expectations. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of dermatological science, a passion for beauty innovation, and a proven ability to manage projects from ideation through to successful launch.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the formulation and development of innovative cosmetic, skincare, and haircare products. Conduct extensive research on new ingredients, technologies, and market trends to identify product opportunities. Design and execute laboratory experiments to develop stable, efficacious, and aesthetically pleasing formulations. Optimize existing formulations for performance, cost, and manufacturability. Perform rigorous testing, including stability, compatibility, and performance evaluations. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, and manufacturing, to ensure successful product development and launch. Prepare detailed technical documentation, including formulation records, lab reports, and product specifications. Troubleshoot formulation challenges and provide solutions for product improvement. Ensure all product development activities comply with relevant industry regulations and quality standards. Stay abreast of scientific advancements in cosmetic chemistry and dermatological science. Mentor junior scientists and contribute to the knowledge base and skill development of the R&D team. Qualifications:

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related scientific field. Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in cosmetic or dermatological product development. Proven expertise in formulation science, including emulsions, suspensions, actives delivery systems, and preservation. Strong understanding of cosmetic ingredients, their properties, functions, and interactions. Experience with analytical techniques for raw material and finished product characterization. Knowledge of global cosmetic regulations and safety standards. Excellent laboratory skills and meticulous attention to detail. Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical findings. Proficiency in relevant software, including formulation databases and statistical analysis tools.
