As an Automotive Production Engineer at our client's reputable automotive manufacturing company, your role is crucial for optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality, and driving efficiency on the production floor. You will be responsible for implementing lean manufacturing principles, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with various departments to achieve production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and refine production processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety standards.
- Monitor production lines, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve throughput and reduce downtime.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, JIT) to continuously improve operational performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production-related issues, including equipment malfunctions, quality defects, and process deviations.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure adherence to quality standards and implement corrective actions.
- Work with engineering and design teams to integrate new product introductions and process changes smoothly.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all production processes.
- Analyze production data to identify trends, measure performance, and recommend improvements.
- Train and mentor production staff on new processes, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations on the production floor.
- Participate in the selection and implementation of new production equipment and technologies.
- Manage production schedules and resource allocation to meet targets.
- Conduct time and motion studies to optimize workstation layout and worker efficiency.
- Contribute to cost reduction initiatives through process optimization and waste elimination.
- Generate reports on production performance, quality metrics, and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a production engineering role, preferably within the automotive manufacturing sector.
- Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and principles.
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement techniques.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with quality control systems (e.g., ISO/TS 16949) is desirable.
- Proficiency in data analysis and report generation.
