Lead Fleet Operations Manager

Our client, a major logistics and delivery company, is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Lead Fleet Operations Manager to oversee their extensive fleet operations in Baltimore, Maryland, US . This senior management position is critical to ensuring the efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness of our transportation network. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fleet management, logistics, supply chain operations, and team leadership. You will be responsible for managing a large fleet of vehicles, including maintenance scheduling, fuel management, driver supervision, route optimization, and regulatory compliance. This includes developing and implementing operational strategies to improve delivery times, reduce operating costs, and enhance overall fleet performance. You will lead a team of dispatchers, mechanics, and drivers, fostering a culture of safety, performance, and continuous improvement. The ability to analyze operational data, identify key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement data-driven solutions is essential. Experience with fleet management software, telematics systems, and transportation management systems (TMS) is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of fleet operations, including maintenance, repair, fuel management, and driver management. Develop and implement strategies to optimize fleet efficiency, reduce costs, and improve on-time delivery performance. Manage a team of fleet personnel, including dispatchers, mechanics, and drivers, providing leadership and guidance. Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local transportation regulations. Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend vehicle life. Utilize telematics and fleet management software to monitor vehicle performance, driver behavior, and operational metrics. Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Develop and manage the fleet operations budget. Lead initiatives focused on improving safety performance and reducing accidents. Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics, procurement, and HR, to ensure seamless operations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive experience in fleet management or transportation operations. Proven experience managing large, diverse fleets. Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, DOT regulations, and safety best practices. Proficiency with fleet management software, telematics, and TMS platforms. Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement operational strategies. Effective communication and presentation skills. Experience in the logistics or transportation industry is essential.
