Farm Manager - Organic Produce

Our client, a well-established and expanding organic farm, is seeking a passionate and experienced Farm Manager to oversee all aspects of daily operations. This is a hands-on role located at our primary farm site in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, IN , requiring strong leadership and a deep understanding of sustainable agricultural practices. The Farm Manager will be responsible for crop planning, cultivation, pest management, harvesting, and ensuring the highest quality of organic produce. You will lead a dedicated team, manage resources efficiently, and contribute to the farm's continued growth and success in providing fresh, healthy food to the community and beyond.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive crop production plans, including crop rotation, planting schedules, and yield projections. Oversee all daily farming activities, including soil preparation, seeding, transplanting, irrigation, and fertilization. Implement and manage integrated pest and disease management strategies using organic methods. Supervise and train farm workers, ensuring efficient labor utilization and adherence to safety protocols. Manage farm equipment and machinery, ensuring proper maintenance and operation. Monitor soil health and implement soil conservation practices. Oversee harvesting operations to ensure produce is picked at optimal quality and handled with care. Manage inventory of seeds, fertilizers, tools, and other farm supplies. Ensure compliance with all organic certification standards and maintain detailed records for audits. Develop and manage the farm's operational budget. Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and local markets. Implement sustainable farming techniques to enhance productivity and environmental stewardship. Monitor weather patterns and adapt farming practices accordingly. Ensure all farm activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner. Contribute to the strategic planning and growth of the farm. Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in farm management or crop production, with a significant focus on organic farming. Strong knowledge of organic farming principles, soil science, pest management, and crop rotation. Experience with irrigation systems and farm machinery operation and maintenance. Proven leadership and team management skills. Excellent organizational and planning abilities. Knowledge of organic certification processes and requirements. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. Good understanding of budgeting and resource management. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with local agricultural regulations and practices in Tamil Nadu. Passion for sustainable agriculture and healthy food systems.
