Research Scientist Profiling

Role Overview:

You will report to the team lead and be responsible for conducting research activities to test microbes and biomolecules in growth chambers and greenhouses. The focus will be on conducting in planta studies for activity, crop safety, and various application methods such as foliar, seed, and drench. The ultimate goal is to advance identified leads from discovery to early development of innovative microorganisms and biomolecules for crop protection, growth, nutrient use efficiency, and abiotic stress management to add significant value to PI's business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Actively support the philosophy, values, and strategy of PI Industries.
• Contribute to the success of Biologicals R&D by driving innovation and meeting objectives and targets set by the management team.
• Assist in selecting microbes and biomolecules for development to fill portfolio gaps and meet market needs.
• Support the Team lead and Head of R&D Biologicals in personnel management, target setting, budgeting, knowledge building, feedback, and coaching.
• Engage in internal and external forums and professional networks to stay updated and enhance expertise.
• Conduct in planta studies with microorganisms and biomolecules under controlled conditions for various purposes.
• Organize and carry out mass production of plants and biotroph pathogens for experiments.
• Maintain growth chambers and greenhouses as per required conditions.
• Operate spraying chambers and seed treatment machines.
• Procure materials for in vivo studies and evaluate plant-microbe interactions.
• Establish assessment techniques for both microbes and biomolecules.
• Analyze and interpret research findings, maintain documentation standards, update timesheets, and progress trackers.
• Participate in lab meetings, present data clearly, and ensure coordination with the project manager.
• Adhere to safety, information security, and quality norms.
• Drive continuous project improvement and enhance expertise through internal and external forums.

Qualifications Required:

• Strong technical knowledge in biological research.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Relevant experience in conducting research activities related to microbes and biomolecules.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately to meet project schedules.
• Knowledge of plant-microbe interactions and assessment techniques.
