About the Role
As our Social Media Manager, you’ll take the reins of our social media presence, crafting content that resonates with our loyal community and new audiences alike. From capturing the energy of a Tuesday night fun run to showcasing our most beloved races like the DC Half Marathon, you’ll be the voice behind our digital storytelling.
This is an independent contractor role based in the DC metro area, with opportunities to attend events, collaborate with our team, and create content that highlights what makes Pacers Running so special.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Strategy & Planning:
- Write a twice-annual social media strategy aligned with our seasonal buying calendar.
- Develop and execute a monthly content calendar across multiple accounts.
- Attend vendor meetings to ensure alignment with brand objectives.
- Content Creation & Management:
- Create, shoot, and edit engaging reels, TikTok videos, photos, and carousels.
- Post regularly to accounts including @runpacers, @dchalfmarathon, and @alexandriahalfmarathon.
- Manage Instagram Stories, repost user-generated content, and engage with followers through comments and DMs.
- Community Engagement:
- Capture authentic content at stores, group runs, races, and community events.
- Attend evening and weekend events as needed to document and share the Pacers experience.
- Collaboration & Reporting:
- Work closely with the Pacers team on promotions, product launches, and race marketing.
- Track performance metrics and share insights to continuously improve our strategy.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is:
- Based in the DC metro area (required) to capture in-person content.
- Experienced in managing brand social media accounts, with a strong portfolio of reels, photography, and short-form videos.
- Skilled in growing engagement and reach on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
- Proficient in photography and video editing, whether on a phone or camera.
- Familiar with the DC area’s running community and local racing scene.
- A self-starter with creative energy and a knack for identifying trends early.
- Able to match Pacers’ friendly, community-first voice in all communications.
