Description Reporting to the Manager - Product Definition, the Engineer - MRB Liaison is the intermediate representative in the group, responsible for repairs required during the manufacture of the airplane. The Engineer - MRB Liaison has the responsibility and authority to perform Material Review Board (MRB) duties and provides engineering support to all organizations engaged in the design, development, publication, assembly, test, installation, delivery, and repair of products. When any problem with the aircraft structure is reported, the Engineer - MRB Liaison must find a solution, with or without assistance from a senior member of the liaison engineering group, and raise the necessary documentation to overcome the problem quickly and efficiently. In this position, the incumbent is the authority in repair and/or salvage dispositions with respect to engineering specifications, concepts and integrity of design and is authorized to sign for a disposition on behalf of the engineering department. The role requires close collaboration with specialists within engineering such as design, stress, materials technology and others as required. Rapidly designs repairs based on equivalent strength/stiffness of surrounding structure in a schedule-driven environment. Adheres to company MRB and quality assurance procedures. Interacts with inspectors, shop mechanics, other engineering disciplines and management as required. Maintains current knowledge of developments in aircraft structures and recommends innovations to improve quality, economy, and effectiveness of products. Investigates, analyzes and determines solutions for manufacturing and engineering problems affecting assembly or component function, considering function, serviceability, cost, schedule, material processes and assembly limitations. Provides written instructions when required by Material Review policies to restore non-conforming parts and assemblies to original product integrity and quality. Interprets engineering drawings, specifications, policies and philosophies. Obtains engineering expert advice and assent on fixes and repairs affecting original engineering philosophy and requirements. Assists manufacturing and related departments in an advisory capacity on methods, processes, cost and schedule improvements. Maintains coordination and fosters teamwork with operations and engineering departments. Investigates and provides solutions for corrective action requests involving engineering. Pursues personal development to maintain competence consistent with state-of-the-art and liaison activities. Provides the Supervisor with current information on manufacturing changes, problems or other matters of significance. Advises the Supervisor on manufacturing problems affecting delivered aircraft and on safety issues. Informs design engineering of any design features that could affect safety or assembly feasibility. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Competence in basic stress analysis. Excellent knowledge of aircraft structures and systems installation technical requirements. Thorough knowledge of aircraft materials and hardware, company practices and standards, and aeronautical engineering standards and specifications. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, high sense of commitment, and ability to accept responsibilities while working independently in a high-pressure partner/supplier team environment. Competence in CATIA V4/V5 and/or AutoCAD sufficient for day-to-day tasks. Current work authorization for Canada is required. Experience Minimum 3 years' MRB experience in Liaison Engineering, preferably on Bombardier programs. Design experience in aerospace considered an asset. Education Graduate of a recognized technical institute, college, or university, majoring in Engineering.
