Job Description

As the Manager, Digital Marketing at Lonza, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the technical management, optimization, and continuous improvement of the organization's marketing automation and connected systems, with a special focus on Adobe Marketo. You will work within a prioritized roadmap and agile delivery model to identify and execute opportunities for system enhancement to ensure the MarTech stack supports scalable, compliant, and commercially effective digital activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the business-side technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Adobe Marketo, liaising with IT and commercial operations product owners to configure and maintain the Marketo platform according to best practices and business requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of data governance within Marketo and integrated systems, adhering to internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee data deduplication, normalization, enrichment, and ensure lead/contact data integrity across systems.
  • Monitor data quality and synchronization issues between Marketo, CRM, and SAP Commerce platforms.
  • Own and support the technical health of integrations between Marketo and connected systems such as SAP Commerce, Salesforce, ZoomInfo, Google Ads, iCapture, and other relevant platforms.
  • Troubleshoot data flow and integration issues, identify root causes, and collaborate with internal technical teams or external vendors for resolution.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to integration design to enhance reliability, performance, and business value.
  • Build and maintain technical frameworks supporting lead routing, lifecycle progression, scoring models, nurture logic, and automation workflows.
  • Review and optimize existing automation logic to improve efficiency, reduce risks, and enhance lead management outcomes.
  • Collaborate with digital, commercial, and platform teams to ensure Marketo and associated systems support product-led, account-based, and sales-assisted buying journeys.
  • Contribute to technical foundations for improved tracking, attribution, segmentation, and customer engagement across online channels.
  • Work within an Agile product management team to deliver high-value technical improvements and system enhancements aligned with the Martech and Digital roadmap.
  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities within the marketing technology landscape.
  • Evaluate the current setup against business needs and recommend improvements in architecture, governance, automation design, and system performance.

Qualifications Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Marketo marketing automation platform.
  • Agile or Scrum certification preferred.
  • Intermediate HTML and CSS knowledge for building emails.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly strong Excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing best practices, relevant KPIs, and trends.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to synthesize complex ideas into actionable recommendations backed by clear insights and clean data.
  • Creative out-of-the-box thinking and a proactive attitude towards task completion.
  • Experience in working with marketing analytics, reporting best practices, 3rd party technologies/agencies, and requirements gathering.
