AP and Resident Accountant

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented AP and Resident Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and have experience managing accounts payable processes and resident accounting functions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial integrity of our organization by ensuring accurate record-keeping, timely payments, and compliance with regulatory standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency with various financial software systems and possess strong analytical skills to support organizational financial health.

Duties

• Manage the full cycle of accounts payable, including invoice processing, coding, and timely disbursement of payments using software.
• Oversee resident accounting functions, including rent collections, ledger maintenance, and reconciliation of resident accounts utilizing systems.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger postings to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.
• Conduct regular analysis of financial data to identify discrepancies or irregularities and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance requirements across all accounting processes.
• Assist in month-end closing activities, financial reporting, and audit preparations by providing detailed account analysis and supporting documentation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting practices where applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Proven experience in accounting roles with a focus on accounts payable and resident or property management accounting.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms; familiarity with data entry and bookkeeping is essential.
• Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and general ledger reconciliation.
• Experience working with payroll systems like Isolved and Kronos.
• Proficiency in analysis skills for financial data interpretation and problem-solving capabilities.
• Familiarity with tax regulations related to non-profit organizations is a plus.

Pay: $66,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
