Job Description

We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant as a Casual employee/trainee to assist in laboratory duties and techniques. The goal is to conduct and learn drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic studies of novel glutamine antagonists and D4 receptor ligands and LC/MS/MS bioanalysis techniques on novel analogs of dendrimer conjugated nsmase2 inhibitors

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate will perform experiments to understand solubility, metabolism and pharmacokinetics of the novel glutamine antagonist prodrugs.
  • Under supervision of Jesse Alt and Rana Rais, candidate will be conducting and measuring aqueous solubility studies of the novel prodrugs.
  • Candidate will also learn bioanalysis techniques on different tissues (plasma, brain, GI) following oral/iv administration of the compounds.
  • Will be expected to conduct in vitro experiments to evaluate stability of the compounds.
  • At the end of term, required to prepare reports for the work he/she conducts.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must have some lab experience and strong scientific background with an emphasis on drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics.
