Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer with strong expertise in Java and modern Spring Boot frameworks to join our engineering team in Bethesda, MD. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in designing scalable enterprise applications, system architecture, and solution development. This role requires hands-on development combined with solutioning, technical design, and system operations experience.

The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain high-performance distributed applications using modern backend technologies and frameworks such as Play or Akka.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable full-stack applications using Java and the latest Spring Boot framework.

Build and maintain microservices and distributed systems.

Participate in solution architecture, system design, and technical decision-making.

Implement backend services using Play Framework or Akka where applicable.

Collaborate with product teams, architects, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Support system operations, production deployments, and troubleshooting.

Ensure application performance, reliability, and scalability.

Mentor junior developers and contribute to engineering best practices.

Required Skills

15+ years of software development experience.

Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot (latest versions).

Experience with Play Framework or Akka framework.

Strong experience in system architecture, solutioning, and technical design.

Experience building microservices and distributed systems.

Hands-on experience with system operations, production support, or DevOps collaboration.

Strong understanding of REST APIs, backend services, and scalable system design.

Experience working in Agile development environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).

Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
