Job Description

We are seeking a skilled React Native Developer to build and evolve our Fire TV streaming application as Amazon transitions to VegaOS, their new operating system with ReactNative as the supported development platform. In this role, you will work with a cross‑functional team to build and optimize performance‑driven user interfaces for large‑screen living‑room experiences, delivering reliable live and VOD video playback to millions of viewers. This role sits within our Streaming Applications domain, which owns CTV product delivery across Roku, FireTV, AppleTV, Samsung, and other connected TV platforms. You’ll partner closely with backend services, streaming infrastructure, QA, and product teams to deliver high‑quality experiences that integrate with our microservices platform, including content feeds, personalization engines, and ad insertion services. This is a hybrid position based in Knoxville, TN, with regular in‑office collaboration across engineering, product, and streaming teams. Responsibilities Build and maintain ReactNative applications tailored for Amazon FireTV and the upcoming VegaOS platform Optimize for performance on large screens, including remote navigation (DPAD), lean‑back UI patterns, focus management, and smooth scrolling behavior Integrate with native modules and custom Android code for FireTV‑specific features and platform APIs Implement video playback functionality using HLS streams for live and VOD content Integrate SSAI/DAI ad tech via AWS MediaTailor, CDP SDKs such as RudderStack, and other CTV‑related tools Integrate with RESTful APIs, content feeds, and other microservices Collaborate with backend, design, QA, and product teams to define and deliver intuitive CTV user experiences Address platform‑specific quirks across FireTV device models and optimize memory, performance, and stability Write clean, modular, and testable code with unit tests and integration tests, and participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality Work within CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and release using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps Follow the team's sprint operating model Use AI tools such as Claude Code and other AI‑assisted development tools to accelerate code generation, test authoring, and documentation Contribute to release management processes including app store submissions, rollout strategies, and post‑release monitoring Monitor production health using observability tools such as NewRelic, and drive timely remediation of issues discovered after release Requirements 3-5 years of professional experience with ReactNative Proven experience building and shipping apps for FireTV or Android‑based CTV platforms Solid understanding of native module bridging in ReactNative with an Android focus Experience with video playback technologies, streaming architecture, and HLS Familiarity with ad tech integration patterns including server‑side ad insertion Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and cloud‑native backend services Experience working in Agile teams with short, iterative release cycles and collaborating with product, design, and QA Comfortable debugging device‑specific issues across FireTV hardware variants and FireOS versions Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows Strong communication and team collaboration skills Nice to Have Experience with Amazon’s VegaOS or early adoption of ReactNative for TV platforms Experience with other CTV platforms such as Roku, AppleTV, AndroidTV, Samsung, or LG Familiarity with analytics and event tracking tools such as RudderStack Experience with feature flags, experimentation tooling, and A/B testing (e.g., LaunchDarkly) Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as NewRelic Experience with authentication flows (OAuth2.0, Auth0) in CTV environments Why Join Us Join an engineering team committed to excellence, innovation, and continuous growth.
