Heavy Equipment Mechanic
- $750/day
- Location: Yukon, flights from Calgary or Edmonton
- Shift: 4 weeks in, 2 weeks off
- Hours: 7 days per week/ 12 hour days
- Camp accommodations and meals are provided for field work.
Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for performing corrective and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment and camp support assets at the Yukon camp. This role reports to the Lead Equipment Mechanic and supports the maintenance, downtime, and reliability tracking program.
What You'll Do
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and camp support equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues.
- Accurately record maintenance work performed, parts used, and rework status as directed by the Lead Mechanic.
- Participate in downtime event documentation and root cause identification.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all site safety standards.
- Support parts inventory tracking by flagging usage and shortages to the Lead Mechanic.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment maintenance experience.
- Red Seal Certification (Heavy Duty Equipment Technician) or equivalent journeyman credential, or actively progressing toward certification with significant practical experience.
- Experience working extended rotations in remote or camp-based settings.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, 7 days/week for 4-week rotations.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mining or drilling equipment maintenance experience.
- Hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine specialization.
- Class 1 licence.
- First Aid / safety certifications.
- Prior camp or FIFO experience.
