Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week

Schedule: Sunday to Friday; shifts may vary based on weather and crop conditions

Wage: $17.60 per hour

Job Description

Paradise Fields is a certified organic farm operating in Hannon, Ontario. We are seeking six (6) General Farm Workers to support year-round primary agricultural crop production activities, including orchard, field vegetable, and greenhouse production.

Work is primarily performed outdoors during the growing season (spring through fall). During the winter months, work transitions to greenhouse crop production and related agricultural activities to ensure continuous year-round employment.

Main Duties

• Plant, cultivate, irrigate, and harvest crops including vegetables, apples, and other field crops
• Seed, transplant, and maintain crops in open fields and greenhouse environments
• Prune, thin, and maintain orchard trees
• Apply fertilizers and soil amendments as directed
• Perform weeding, crop maintenance, and field preparation
• Harvest produce by hand
• Sort, grade, and prepare harvested crops for storage and shipment
• Monitor greenhouse crop growth, watering, and environmental conditions during winter production
• Clean and maintain work areas, greenhouse spaces, and farming tools
• Follow on-farm food safety and sanitation procedures
• Assist with general farm maintenance tasks as required

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Physically demanding
• Repetitive tasks
• Standing, bending, crouching, kneeling for extended periods
• Lifting up to 40 lbs
• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions (spring to fall)
• Indoor greenhouse work during winter months
• Exposure to dust, pollen, humidity, and agricultural environments

Employment Requirements

• No formal education required
• Previous farm or greenhouse experience is an asset but not required; training will be provided
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment
• Basic English required

• This is a year-round primary agriculture position.
• Work transitions seasonally between outdoor field/orchard production and indoor greenhouse crop production during winter months.
• Duties may vary depending on crop cycle, seasonal demands, and operational needs.
