Senior R&D Scientist – Specialty Chemicals

Flychem is looking for an experienced Senior R&D Scientist to lead development of specialty intermediates and functional ingredients across cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and agrochemical platforms. The role involves process development, route scouting, scale-up support, and optimization of specialty chemical products focused on pyridine, pyridone, triazine, imidazole, pyrimidine, cyclic ketone, UV filter, resorcinol, esterification, and heterocyclic intermediate chemistries. The candidate will support both in-house manufacturing and external manufacturing/technology-transfer projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead R&D projects for specialty intermediates and functional ingredients
• Develop scalable synthetic routes and process improvements
• Handle reaction optimization, purification, yield improvement, and impurity control
• Work on heterocyclic chemistry including pyridine, pyridone, triazine, imidazole, pyrimidine, and cyclic ketone chemistries
• Work on chlorination, fluorination, esterification, amidation, alkylation, cyclization, and condensation reactions
• Support scale-up activities from laboratory to pilot/manufacturing scale
• Coordinate with external manufacturing partners for technology transfer and process support
• Prepare technical process documentation and development reports
• Collaborate with QC, manufacturing, and regulatory teams
• Support innovation and commercialization of new specialty intermediates

Required Qualifications

• M.Sc / M.Tech / PhD in Organic Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or related field
• Minimum 8 years of industrial R&D experience
• Strong understanding of organic synthesis and process chemistry
• Experience in specialty chemicals, cosmetic ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, agrochemical intermediates, or APIs
• Familiarity with analytical tools such as HPLC, GC, KF, IR, etc.
• Experience handling lab-scale and pilot-scale reactions
• Strong technical documentation and reporting capability
