We are excited to announce that we are seeking candidates to fill an Agribusiness Loan Officer position based in Warrenton, VA or Culpeper, VA, with regional travel required.
From day one, you'll become part of a collaborative, customer focused team committed to supporting agriculture and rural communities. In this role, you'll serve as a trusted financial partner to complex agribusiness and commercial customers, leveraging deep lending expertise, strong credit judgment, and active community involvement. You'll independently grow and manage a large, sophisticated lending portfolio while helping advance Farm Credit of the Virginias' mission as a cooperative partner to rural America.
Salary Range: $84,700 - $130,200 (based on location), plus incentive opportunities
Responsibilities / Duties
Independently develop and execute targeted sales and marketing strategies focused on cultivating larger, more complex agribusiness and commercial relationships.
Grow and manage a large, complex lending portfolio (generally exceeding $50M) through proactive new business development and strong customer relationships.
Exercise independent judgment in structuring and recommending lending solutions using sound credit administration and adherence to policy.
Serve as a trusted advisor to borrowers through consultative conversations focused on long term operational success.
Coordinate loan originations and servicing activities while partnering effectively with lending support and credit teams.
Actively engage in community, industry, and referral networks to identify growth opportunities.
Maintain in depth knowledge of agricultural, commercial, and economic conditions impacting the territory.
Lead complex borrower conversations related to credit decisions, portfolio performance, and risk management.
Prepare accurate, compliant loan packages in alignment with guidelines and regulatory expectations.
Represent Farm Credit of the Virginias at industry events, community functions, and educational opportunities.
Actively protect organizational assets by following security, risk management, and information security practices.
Preferred Industry Experience
Experience in one or more of the following industries is strongly preferred:
Winery & Vineyard Operations
Horticulture
Equine Operations
Value Added Agricultural Production
Commercial Lending
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Agriculture, Economics, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Five or more years of commercial or agricultural lending experience.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex lending relationships and portfolios.
Strong customer relationship management, consultation, and communication skills.
Proven commitment to active involvement in the local agricultural and business community.
Ability to analyze diverse agricultural and commercial operations and make sound credit decisions.
Understanding of regional economic and agricultural environments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new technology.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally.
Ability to work effectively in a mobile and/or virtual work environment.
