Job Summary

The Manufacturing Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all manufacturing activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with approved design data, company procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. This role ensures that production outputs meet quality, airworthiness, and delivery expectations while maintaining strict control over technical data, configuration, and process compliance. The Production Manager coordinates daily production activities, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and works closely with Engineering, Planning, Quality, and Shipping departments to maintain operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. The position also provides leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to production personnel while ensuring adherence to company workmanship standards and Transport Canada regulatory requirements.

Direct Accountabilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily manufacturing activities to meet production schedules and operational objectives.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved drawings, build specifications, workmanship standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor workflow, labour utilization, and production efficiency while addressing bottlenecks and operational challenges.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Engineering, and Quality to support production flow and product delivery.
  • Ensure only current and approved technical data is used in manufacturing and inspection.
  • Maintain configuration control and support implementation of engineering changes within production.
  • Ensure proper identification, segregation, documentation and control of non-conforming materials and products.
  • Participate in root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities as required.
  • Prepare and/or approve Authorized Release Certificates where authorized and ensure product conformity to approved design data.
  • Ensure proper completion and retention of production documentation, including build sheets, inspection records, and traceability.
  • Oversee packing and shipping activities to ensure products are properly protected, identified, and compliant with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure proper control, issuance, and tracking of manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.
  • Lead, coach, train, and support production personnel in applicable procedures, workmanship standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support on-the-job training activities in accordance with CAR 561.11 requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment.

Education Required

Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Aviation/ Aerospace or equivalent combination of education/ experience. Business/Manufacturing.

Experience, Skills, and Attitude

Required:

  • 10+ years of experience in Manufacturing, production, or aerospace operations environment.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and quality assurance systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint Etc.)
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Preferred

  • Experience within an aerospace or aviation manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Transport Canada regulations and CAR 561 requirements.
  • Experience participating in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and root cause investigations.
  • Experience supporting continuous operational efficiency initiatives.

Assets:

  • Holds a current AME “E/M/S”
  • Experience implementing process improvements and productivity initiatives.
  • Knowledge of aircraft structures/harness, assemblies. and aerospace manufacturing practices.
