Job Summary
This position is within the Airworthiness Engineering Department supporting the coordination of the aircraft certification and continuing airworthiness activities within the company, and between the company and the airworthiness authorities (primarily Transport Canada).
Direct Accountabilities
- The individual will ensure that the department/company deliverables and tools effectively support the company's obligations under the applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support the Continuing Airworthiness Corrective Action process, including risk assessment and corrective action plan development, in accordance with the established procedures.
- Service Difficulty Reporting investigations and governance process and Coordinate certification approval of design changes.
- Produce reports and assessment information for Service Difficulty Reporting investigations
- Coordinate certification approval and/or validation of design changes internally and with regulatory airworthiness authorities in various jurisdictions (e.g. TCCA, FAA, EASA etc,)
- Lead safety risk assessments, in conjunction with engineering and technical support groups, record the technical information and potential risk of safety related events per process.
- Coordinate with engineering to obtain design approval of changes to the Type Design, including design modifications, repairs, flight manual changes, and Airworthiness Limitation changes.
- Support the investigation and establishment of corrective actions for issues affecting the design compliance and/or safety of the aircraft as a whole or for any component, system or structural assembly.
- Initiate and oversee corrective action plans that require a design change and support the Design lead. Act as a focal for all communication relating to aircraft certification between the company and the Airworthiness Authorities.
- Preparation and management of certification plans and compliance programs.
- Facilitate discussions and agreements with Authorities on certification and product integrity activities, developing appropriate strategies and direction with Engineering and other technical groups.
- Maintain adherence to engineering and Design Approval Organization practices when executing design changes.
- Support the Design Approval Organization and execute related responsibilities as assigned by the Airworthiness Manager.
- Provide Airworthiness support to all company sites as required (potential travel between sites if required).
Education Required
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
Experience, Skills, Attitude
- Graduation from a recognized college with mechanical engineering or aeronautics diploma with at least 5-years' experience in either certification, demonstration of compliance, safety data analysis, or equivalent experience relevant to engineering design approvals.
- Excellent working knowledge of regulatory requirements and certification practices related to aircraft design approval.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate clearly & effectively.
- Ability to read engineering technical information, including technical drawings and production documentation.

- Minimum 10 years' experience in the aeronautical industry is an asset.
- Previous work experience with Transport Canada Civil Aviation, Aircraft Certification Branch is an asset.
- Previous work experience within a DAO, or equivalent, is an asset
